Khar Us Nuur National Park, located in Khovd province, is one of Mongolia’s most important wetland reserves. The park centers around Khar Us Lake, a large freshwater lake covering 1,852 sq. km at an altitude of 1,157 m above sea level. It is part of the Great Lakes Depression and is surrounded by dramatic steppe, desert, and mountain landscapes. The park is a haven for migratory birds and rare wildlife, making it a vital ecological and cultural destination.
