Overview

Uureg Lake is a saline lake nestled in the hollow between the Turgen and Tsagaan Shiveet mountain ranges, located northwest of the Uvs Basin and west of the Great Lakes Depression. Sitting at an altitude of 1,463 meters above sea level, the lake covers 239 sq. km, with a depth of 25–40 m, stretching 20 km long and 18 km wide. Its dramatic mountain backdrop and rich biodiversity make it one of Mongolia’s most captivating natural sites.
