Khongor Sand Dunes – Destination Guide

Overview

The Khongor Sand Dunes, located in Sevrei sum, Umnugobi province, are among the largest and most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia. Stretching for 185 km along the northern side of the Sevrei and Zoolon mountains, these dunes are famous for their immense size and beauty. Known locally as Duut or the “Singing Dunes”, their peaks can rise up to 240 meters, producing a humming sound when the sand shifts in the wind.

Natural Features
